Ribbon Lamp’s fluid, organic form serves as two lamps in one by adapting to the user’s mood and transforming from task to ambient lighting on demand. A simple control pad on the base allows the user to smoothly brighten or dim the lamp to taste, as well as shift the color temperature from a cooler white light that reduces eye strain for reading or hobby use, toward a cozy warm yellowish light suited to ambient or general purpose lighting.
Compared to far more expensive LED lamps, Ribbon offers more light output, and greater range of color temperature. This impressive versatility comes thanks to Cold Cathode Fluorescent (CCFL) technology, used commonly to backlight flat panel LCD displays. Cold Cathode offers astonishing energy efficiency, low heat, and a life of up to 15,000 hours under regular usage – more than 2 times the life of a compact fluorescent bulb.
In addition to its impressive energy efficiency and low heat output, Ribbon is designed so that the CCFL light bulb can be replaced without having to dispose of the entire lamp ensuring decades of use. It is also 85% recyclable and designed for responsible disassembly at the end of its life.
